About the Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust
The Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust is a legal trust established with
private investment from Tasmanian citizens who have noticed the long
time since there were some 'blockbuster' community shows at Hobart's
Theatre Royal. The Trust is funding the production of Les Miserables
in March 2008 and, if the season is as successful as is planned,
there will be a production to follow at the same time of year in
2009, for which the rights have been secured to premiere a fantastic
(and recent) musical production never seen in Tasmania
before. The aim from then-on is to stage an annual musical
production each and every year to ensure the state gets its 'musical
fix'. Tasmania has a long tradition of large scale community musical
theatre and the Tasmanian Theatre Unit Trust aims to meet the
community's demand for high quality community musical theatre
productions.
