MADAM THENARDIER - Di
Richards
"Master of the
house? Isn't worth my spit!"
Di
Richards will be playing the principal role of Madam
Thenardier in Les Misérables.
Originally, Di is from Wollongong in NSW. She moved to Tasmania in
1999 and Wollongong’s loss has been Tasmania’s gain. Since moving to
Tasmania, she has had principle roles in the musicals Annie, Side
By Side By Sondheim, Oklahoma, The World Goes Round, Chicago, Into
the Woods, Company and Sweeney Todd to name but a few.
Di has also performed in various concerts around Tasmania and NSW.
She performed as part of the hand picked choir for the recent
Tasmanian concert as part of Michael Crawford’s Australian tour and
participated in the Federation Concert in Launceston in 2001.
Di says she hates running and that, prior to discovering food, she
started her career as a dancer with the Beverley Rowles Dance
Studio. This was at the ripe old age of 4, the same year she
performed her first pantomime. She has been hooked on musicals and
performing ever since.
It will be an absolute thrill for audiences to experience Di
Richards as Madam Thenardier.
