MARIUS - Craig Irons
At
20 years of age, Craig Irons already has a wealth of experience in
Hobart as a singer, teacher, actor and director. Currently studying
musical theatre at the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of
Music and voice with Jane Edwards, Craig is a versatile performer
who is looking forward to building a long career in the theatre.
As a performer his achievements in 2007 include the lead role of
Munkustrap in Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Cats (ExitLeft
Productions) alongside Debra Byrne and Jesus in Jesus Christ
Superstar (Hobart Summer Theatre School). In the past he has
played Alex from Aspects of Love, Bobby from A Class Act,
Tenor in Songs For A New World, Combeferre in Les Misérables
School Edition (2005 Hobart Summer Theatre School), and
appearances in RENT, The Venetian Twins, Ten Wonderful
Years, Lives of the Great Poisoners, Bouncers, Departmental and
many various Eisteddfods and concert recitals.
As a director, Craig has guided productions of Sarah Kane’s 4.48
Psychosis, Van Badham’s Capital and David Williamson’s
Australian classic The Club for his very own Fade Theatre
Productions which he co-founded in 2006.
Craig tutors voice to a number of students of different ages from
all around Hobart and his hobbies include soccer, cricket and music
from a wide spectrum of genres. He is very excited to be playing
Marius, especially in a production of Les Misérables
at Hobart’s Theatre Royal, and he is looking forward to working with
such a fantastic cast and production team.
